C. 1900's Cream Silk Gown

C. 1900's Cream Silk Gown

This beautiful cream silk gown may have originally been worn as a wedding gown or as an elegant garden party gown. The best part is this gown is still very wearable and should be worn again! The gown features a very high lace collar with boning to hold it in place. The lace continues over the shoulder and creates a "bib" center front. Narrow vertical lace bands further decorate the bodice of the gown. The shoulders are lace with the front and back material gently gathered into the lace. The 3/4 length sleeves are very full and have small "hoops" sewn in to add to their fullness. Narrow, vertical bands of lace begin at the shoulders and continue to the lower edge of the sleeve. The sleeves' lower edge is gathered into a lace ruffle (see close-up photo). The bodice is pouched in the front which is typical of clothing from this era. The gown's waistband is very wide and comes to a point at the center front. The waistband is also decorated with narrow, horizontal lace bands. This style waistband really accents a small waistline. The waistband has been reinforced. There are a few small pin holes - not detracting. The skirt is gathered into the waistband and is generously cut. The lower portion of the gown is accented with three (3) horizontal pleats. Due to the cut and material, this gown moves beautifully. The gown has a center back hook/eye closure and as previously stated, it is wearable - however, as with all vintage clothing, care should be taken when worn. The gowns measures approximately: bustline=33"; waistline=24 1/2"; shoulder to shoulder width=14" and length=57". The gown is in very good condition; but does need a good soak.

C. 1900's Floral Dressing Gown

C. 1900's Floral Dressing Gown

I can't say enough about this dressing gown - it is so romantic! The beautiful cream fabric is the background for a delicate pink and green floral design. The gown has a cream cotton lining with a center front button closure. The gown also has a center front closure with hook/eye closure. This opening extends to approximately the waistline. The bodice of the gown has a small, standup collar and a square yoke. Lovely, delicate 6 1/2" lace encircles the yoke. The back of the gown bodice is fitted through the waistline. The sleeves are 3/4 length and very full. A wonderful Watteau train begins at the lower edge of the yoke and continues through the train. This dressing gown is in very good condition. It may have a few minor spots, but none that I see. The dressing gown is small and measures approximately: bustline=32"; waistline=24". This gown would make a beautiful display in a Victorian bedroom.

C. 1900's Garden/Wedding Gown

C. 1900's Garden/Wedding Gown

This beautiful two (2) piece Edwardian gown is incredible. It would make a perfect wedding gown for a garden wedding or a garden party. The gown is made of fine cotton lawn and lace. The bodice features a slightly raised neckline, edged with lace trim. The bodice yoke is beautifully done with tiny pin pleats and lace medallions. The medallions look to be "hand done". There is some minor damage to one of the medallion (see close-up photo below). The remainder of the bodice is full through the bustline, pigion breasted, which is typical of this era and is also decorated with lace medallions. The sleeves are 3/4 length and full through the top. They are also accented with lace. The sleeves gather into a wide pin pleated band. The bodice has a center back hook/eye closure and measures approximately: bustline=34", waistline=26"; shoulder to shoulder width=14" and back length (neckline to waistline)=13 1/2". The skirt begins with a wide waistband which is reinforced with stays. The stays keep the waistband from folding over. Groups of four pleats beginning at the waistline and continuing through the hips, encircle the skirt. The pleating alternates with vertical rows of three (3) lace medallions. The remaider of the skirt is nicely flared. The lower portion of the skirt features a wide band of pin pleats and lace medallions. This band is accented with lace trim on both the top and bottom. The gown is in almost pristine condition! It does have a few tiny pin holes and a few very small light spots (these are not noticeable and are difficult to find due to the fullness of the skirt). The skirt measures approximately 40" long and the waistline measures approximately 26". The back of the skirt is slightly longer than the front. It is not often that you find a gown in this condition in a wearable size.

C. 1900's White Dress

C. 1900's White Dress

This white Edwardian dress is perfect for a garden tea! Add a big, floppy hat and you will feel like you've stepped back in time! The dress is very sturdy and wearable. It has a square neckline with horizontal crocheted bands in the center front. A wide pleat begins at the front waistline and continues thru to the back waistline on each side of the crochet insert. A collar completes the neckline. The collar is edged with a small trim. The dress has a side hook/eye closure (hook/eyes are fairly new). The sleeves of the dress are 3/4 length and edged with the same trim as the collar. The skirt begins with a wide crocheted waistband. The crochet banding continues in a vertical fashion down the center of the skirt. Ten (10) crocheted buttons accent the skirt - 5 on each side of the crocheted band. The dress is in very good condition and the material is sturdy. The dress is machine stitched and may have been remade or has just been well preserved. The dress is short waisted and would work best with a petite size. Approximate measurements are as follows: bustline=34"; shoulder to shoulder=13 1/2"; waistline=28"; bodice length (center of neckline to middle of waistband)=13 1/2" and overall length=49".
