White cotton lawn gowns and lace were very popular during the early
1900's. |
Unfortunately, my photos do not do this beautiful gown justice. The two-piece cream colored wedding gown dates to the 1890's, but looking at the condition, you would never believe it! The material is lovely - light as a feather with a color on color floral print. The bodice features a square neckline with ruching encircling the entire neckline. Wide, cream moire ribbon ties accent each shoulder. The ruching around the neckline creates some gathering through the bodice. The sleeves are short and very full. The lower edge of the sleeves are ruched - matching the neckline. The bodice is very fitted and fully lined. There are 12 bones in the bodice and it has a hook/eye closure at the center back. The matching skirt is a-lined; falling flat in the front, but gathered in the back, creating a slight bustle look. The skirt has a hook/eye closure and a very slight train. The gown has a wide material belt with a center back hook/eye closure (hooks/eyes are missing). The back of the belt continues the ribbon theme, with long tails of cream moire ribbon which matches the ribbon on the shoulders. The gown is truely lovely and the condition is wonderful; however, the size is very small, especially with the boning in the bodice. Even though this gown is wearable, because of the small size, I would recommend it be used as a display piece. The gown measures approximately: bustline=32"; shoulder to shoulder width=11"; waistline=24" and skirt length=40". The gown is in very good condition, I do not see any spots of consequence; no underarm stains, etc.; however the ribbons need a bit of freshening.

Lace Gown
Made With Antique Lace
This beautiful gown is a designer original, created by "Kathleen
Kennedy". The gown is new; however it has been created with antique
laces. The lace is sheer and features a wonderful stylized floral
design. The neckline is "U" shaped and trimmed with a small lace
trim. The bodice is somewhat fitted with long sheer sleeves. The
sleeves are gathered at the shoulders and have some fullness to the
top portion. A small turned-up cuff finishes the sleeve with a
vintage button accent. The waistline is slightly dropped and a lace
peplem encirlces the gown. The peplem lengthens as it reaches the
center back. A center back zipper incorporates today's conveniences
with yesteryear's designs. The skirt has a bit of fullness and is a
bit longer in the back, creating a small demi-train. The hemline is
scalloped - a beautiful vintage detail. The gown comes with a
beautiful underslip. The underslip is created with diagnol seams
throughout the front. The slip has thin straps and is the perfect
complement to the gown. The gown is "new" and has never been worn.
It was purchased from a wonderful bridal boutique that is not longer
in existance. Each gown in the shop was a handmade original and
priced in the $2,000 range. This gown measures approximately:
bustline=36; waistline=28" and length (shoulder to hemline)=61".

Edwardian Style
Gown
This gown is a beautiful reproduction of an Edwardian style gown.
It was created by Chris Hudson Couture as a wedding gown, but would
also be a show-stopper at any formal event. The gown features a high
lace neckline and large front lace yoke. The neckline and yoke are
made from vintage laces. The lace yoke is very wide - extending
almost from shoulder to shoulder and is rounded in front (very
low cut) and forms a deep "V" in back. The yoke and neckline are
created with a variety of vintage laces - each complimenting the
other. The wonderfully large leg-of-mutton sleeves are very full at
the
upper arm and tightly tapered from elbow to wrist. The sleeves end
in a point over the hand. Sixteen (16) buttons close each sleeve.
The bodice of the gown is fitted through the waistline. The front
portion of the bodice ends in a point below the natural
waistline. The skirt portion of the gown has a very slight flair and
is elegantly gathered in the back to emulate the Edwardian style.
There are six (6) fabric covered buttons which decorate the vertical
gather just above the hemline at the center back. An additional
button on each side of the center gather holds the "train" in place.
The gown has a button closure in back - consisting of 59 buttons!
The gown is a bit off-white and is made of a soft brocade style
fabric.
The gown is "new" and has never been worn. It was purchased from a
wonderful bridal boutique that is no longer in existence. Each gown
in the shop was a handmade original and
priced in the $2,000 range (this gown was originally priced at
$1,900). The gown carries the following label, "Chris Hudson
Couture." This gown measures approximately: bustline=34;
waistline=25" and length (shoulder to hemline)=53". The gown does
need cleaning as there is some spotting on the collar and there are
some minor lace breaks. Add a rhinestone or pearl tiara and you will
look and feel like royalty!

PETITE
Vintage 1940's Style
Wedding Gown
This beautiful white wedding gown combines white lace with white chiffon-like material. The gown has a bit of a 1940's look, yet it also has Victorian style detailing. The gown has a high lace neckline and sheer lace through the upper portion of the bodice. The lining creates the illusion of a deep "V" neckline. The sleeves are long and end with a wide ruffle. The bodice is fitted. The waistband is created with a wide horizontal band of lace. Lace continues through the full skirt much like a long peplum. The lace gradually lengthens from the front of the skirt as it rounds to the back of the skirt. The remainder of the skirt is a flowing white chiffon-like material. The hemline of the gown and train are edged with a wide lace trim (see Detail Views). The gown has a center back metal zipper. The gown is fully lined and is shown with a hoop (not included). There is no size information, but the gown is petite and measures approximately: bustline=34"; shoulder to shoulder width=13 1/2"; waistline=26" and length (shoulder to hemline)=52". The gown is in very good condition, but it does need cleaning, especially along the hemline. Combine this gown with a long lace edged veil and you will have a stunning vintage look.

1940's Style Sheath and
Jacket
Size 8
This lovely white gown and jacket is new. It was purchased from a bridal store that went out of business, so it has been tried on, but never actually worn. The gown reminds me of the 1940's - very tailored with padded shoulders. The dress is a simple sheath with a rounded neckline and wide shoulder straps. The dress is fully lined and has a high center walking slit up the back. It also has a center back zipper. The jacket is a stunner. It has heavily padded shoulders and a deep "V" neckline. It has a center front opening with a one snap closure (under the button). A combination of faux pearl beading and rhinestones accents the neckline of the jacket to the center button. The button is also a combination of faux pearls rimmed with sparkling rhinestones (sorry, my photos did not capture the sparkle of the button). The gown and jacket are in very good condition, but a few beads may be missing (I didn't see any, but I may have missed one) and a few need a stitch or two for reinforcement. I did notice that there is a very small, very light mark on the back of the jacket - not noticeable and I almost missed it. The gown and jacket are 100% Polyester and may be spot cleaned by a professional dry cleaner, so that should take care of the mark. The gown and jacket are made by "Mon Cheri" and marked a size 8. The measurements of the dress form are: bustline=35"; waistline=28"; hips=37". The dress length (from the shoulder to hemline) is 58". The jacket has a shoulder measurement of 16", sleeve (shoulder to sleeve edge) measurement of 23" and back jacket length of 21 1/2". Very simple, yet so elegant!

Circa 1940's Satin Wedding
Gown
This off-white satin wedding gown is beautifully decorated with lace trim. The gown has a rounded neckline with a fine net yoke (one very tiny pull in netting - barely noticeable). The netting is edged with a 3" wide lace trim. The bodice if fitted and features long, straight sleeves which end in a point over the wrist. Each sleeve has a four button closure. The waistline is fitted and comes to a small "V" in the front. The skirt is accented midlength with matching 3" lace scallops. The lace also edges the bottom edge of the long train. The gown has a button back closure. This dress has not be cleaned and does have a few very light stains which should come out. Some very minor restitching of the lace in a few areas is needed, otherwise the gown is in very good condition. Measurements: bustline=32"; waistline=25"-26".

1940's Cream Satin/Tulle Wedding
Gown
This beautiful 1940's vintage wedding gown is made of cream colored satin and off-white tulle. The gown features a rounded neckline with a fitted bodice and sheer net front and back yoke. The sides/shoulders of the yoke are decorated with beading. A wide ruffle outlines the lower edge of the yoke which is cut in a sweetheart neckline. The gown has a center back button closure. Some of the buttons need reinforcement. The bodice ends with a scalloped bottom in the front and a "V" in the back. Both fall slightly below the natural waistline. The sleeves are long and fitted and end with a four (4) button closure. The skirt is created in three (3) layers - satin lining, crinoline and the top layer of sheer net. The gown is displayed in the photographs with a hoop slip which is not included with the gown. The skirt is floor length, but does not have a train. The gown is in very good condition; however it does need cleaning as there are some small age spots which should come out with cleaning. The gown does not have any size information, but measures approximately: bustline=38"; shoulder to shoulder width=12 1/2"; waistline=28" and length (shoulder to hemline)=53".

1950's White Lace Gown - Tea
Length
Pretty white lace gown from the 1950's. The gown has a wide rounded
neckline with a scalloped lace edge. The neckline is accented with
small faux pearls and sequins. The sleeves are long and fitted. A
decorative satin swatch of material begins at the side seam and comes
to an inverted "V" under the bustline. A circular piece of lace
accents the center of the bustline. This lace is also decorated with
faux pearls and sequins. The skirt is nicely gathered into the
natural waistline. The waistline ends in a "V" at the center front.
The gown has an attached net crinoline, but may be worn with an
additional one for added fullness. The skirt is tea length. The
gown has a center back metal zipper and is fully lined. It is in
very good condition, but does need cleaning. There is a stain at the
bottom point of the center front "V". I believe it will come out
with cleaning. There are no labels in the gown, but it measures as
follows: bustline=37"; waistline=29"; shoulder to shoulder=14";
skirt length (waistline to hemline)=34".
